Canada’s radio dial just got a whole lot quieter as Rogers axes six stations and 230 jobs in a sweeping media bloodbath. The closures hit stations in Vancouver, Calgary, Halifax and Kitchener.

Rogers, in a statement to media, confirmed 80 of the 230 layoffs are tied directly to the stations, with the rest coming from corporate, TV, radio and other roles.

The company said the cuts made a “difficult but necessary decision” following a review of its radio business, thanking listeners and staff for their contributions.

“We are grateful to our listeners and to our team for their contributions to the local community.”
