Resigned Liberal MP faces scrutiny over undisclosed China trips
Former Liberal MP Shaun Chen's recent trips to China are raising foreign influence concerns after the MP resigned, citing health issues that prevent him from going to work.
Scarborough North Liberal MP Shaun Chen’s travel history is facing scrutiny after records raised questions about his limited in-person attendance, multiple trips to China, and allegations that he voted in the House while abroad and claimed Toronto-to-Ottawa travel expenses during the same period.
Chen announced his resignation from the Liberal caucus on Monday, saying he can no longer travel to Ottawa on a regular basis due to a motorcycle injury from Fall 2025.
As first reported by independent journalist and show host Andy Lee, Chen’s travel history shows that he has travelled multiple times since the reported accident date, including two trips to China, the latter trip being just two weeks ago.
