In 2025, the average Canadian family of two parents and two children is projected to contribute an estimated $19,060 to public healthcare insurance, according to a new report from the Fraser Institute
"The authors say the goal of the estimates is to help Canadians assess whether they are receiving good value for their tax dollars."
Is there anyone out there who is not a politician (with its inherent benefits) believing that we are getting good value for $$'s spent? Me thinks . . a definite NO.
Doesn’t seem like good value for money. I’m an insurance professional who realizes that you pay for something and expect the coverage to activate when needed. But like the CPP which value is questionable compared to self-directed investing, our healthcare system is cracking under the weight of (?)poor management, or is it the cost of delivery. What type of personal healthcare can a single get for $500/mo. in the USA? Or a family get for $2100/mo.? The math for plans like the CPP and healthcare just do not add up.
I would be interested to know what private health care insurance would cost. I’m thinking if I’m paying 20 grand already, I’d rather go private and get proper care.
From past readings of comments and people I have associated with in the US, it's not what it's cracked up to be either. I've heard that they only pay a fraction of the costs. And they dictate what hospital you will use for surgery. Our health care would be much better if they got rid of the government deadwood. And let the Drs. decide what you'll get for treatment. And on top of that, get rid of all the illegal immigrants. Some of our wait times are attributed to out of country or province surgery. That's cash money for the Dr and hospital, while you wait your turn.

Yes, especially when a portion of the money invested can't be accounted for.
