RCMP union demands federal inquiry into CBC show
The National Police Federation has sent a letter to Canadian Identity Minister Marc Miller calling for an immediate inquiry into the CBC “prank” show.
The National Police Federation, a union representing around 20,000 members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, is calling on the federal government to take immediate action to investigate and prevent the release of footage from a CBC Entertainment project that used fake media companies to deceive commentators, MPs and RCMP veterans.
In a letter addressed to Liberal Canadian Identity and Culture Minister Marc Miller, the union expressed outrage over the publicly funded CBC and APTN production, saying the use of insults, disparaging remarks about veterans’ service and deception may have retraumatized RCMP veterans, many of whom live with post-traumatic stress disorder stemming from decades of service to Canadians.
The union is demanding that the federal government launch an inquiry into the project and an audit of federal funds used in production.
