What an absolute crock. How about some reverse decolonisation?

My ancestors emigrated to Canada back in the 1600's from Scotland, so that probably makes me instantly, by ancestral association, a Colonist. Well Mea maxima culpa.

This colonist, who is coming up on his 81st birthday, is entering the seventh consecutive year without a family doctor.

Can I get some brownie points for that? Maybe something like, "well not all Colonists are bad."

The GD Health system is not suffering from Colonialism. It's broken. It's suffering from Liberalism.

Pointe ****ing finale.

Here here!!! Very well said and accurate

We are all so done with the racist colonist evil whitey bashing and bullying

Enough already!!!! So absurd!

Trump and our republican neighbors are turning this woke leftist nonsense around and cancelling DEI and reverse racism and terrorizing of evil whites like our Scots and European ancestors who BUILT THIS COUNTRY!!!!!

These sick and moronic woke public health officials are all out of their fucking minds and cannot admit defeat……. But it’s coming.!!!!

The article and your comment illustrates a broken and dysfunctional system. I boggles my mind how it ever got so bad. We're in a deep pit of DEI and woke ideology on full display with the exchanges here in parliamentary discourse. Every word spoken by the honorable heath official reveals the deference to the DEI agenda and ideology of victimhood of minorities (blacks, indigenous) by "colonists", which appears to be anyone else.

The policies are divisive, biased and accusatory, and will eventually lead to stagnation and inequity, the very thing they try to blame on us all.

Agree. And what other result could one expect from an out-of-control immigration system that brings in literally millions of new people over a very short time span. For the most part, these new immigrants bring nothing of value with them, only the promise of being future, productive citizens. Meanwhile, we support them while they overwhelm an already under-funded health care system. I don't blame the immigrants - in the end, we are all that. I certainly don't blame the health care professionals. The fault lies squarely with our WEF-controlled, one-world, Utopian government.

Right. I admired Mr. Strauss's ability to speak up, we need more of that, but this nonsense has been set up, and going on for a long time and I don't have much hope for reform from within. I'm like you, dismayed by the erosion of our values and our once great country. I think we're an older demographic, a minority that wants to return to a more hopeful and saner governance but we've been over ruled by elites and the deceptions they've enshrined.

You just hit it out of the park James. Thanks as always for your contributions.

A list of what so called Colonialism brought us would stagger the minds of the Woke...and I'd start with the wheel. I'd take away that and their smart books, medications, institutions of higher learning. I could go on but what's the point...they aren't listening.

Expand full comment
James Turner's avatar

No, they are not listening. Most of what occupies their minds(?) are starry-eyed visions of Utopia. They do not live on the same planet as you and I - possibly even, in a different dimension. By and large, they live a sheltered, spoiled existence and actually want this - inappropriately named - "Nanny State". Nanny State, like MAID, is a cutesy word or phrase for something else entirely. That is strict, authoritarian rule, which kills the pioneering spirit and sentences our society to eventual extinction.

Daryl: Not to mention overweight and/or obese. And representative of a particular demographic. The current 'senior official' of Health Canada has a background in engineering - not health. Well, given the wretched state of our country, a commonsense, merit-based appointment would be too much of a shock.

This may be cruel, but I have a problem with a grossly obese individual heading up a public "health" agency. Not a good look.

Another blatant case of having someone (likely) weighing 300+ pounds heading up a ministry promoting 'health and wellness'. Ironies abound here in Canada - in the 'enlightened' woke 21st century.

Nothing surprises me anymore,

quote

"A senior health official struggled to explain the meaning of “decolonizing science” when pressed by Conservative MP Matt Strauss during a parliamentary committee meeting."

This is how unqualified for the position works when being hired; don't know shit, easy to manipulate, unqualified for the position, will do whatever the boss tells them to do regardless of values, morals or the truth/science, add on the "instant expert through appointment " mentality and you have the perfect Liberal trained Muppet.

AND WE WONDER WHY CANADA IS IN DEEP SHIT, no wondering here in the last ten years, keep recycling the gene pool and every cycle gets weaker and weaker, physically and mentally.

Indians were not the first settlers here, our current Indians are DNA dependents from Siberia from reading that crossed the land bridge in their migration, were thousands of years behind in development from their ancestors, Indians were practicing the "Stone Age" before the the more advanced Europeans arrived, (Vikings first) their struggle is nothing new as every part of the human race has been through far worse than the Indian here, we all evolved from hunters and gatherers, hunting, fishing, farming are not unique to the Indian, we all as a human race practiced cultural rituals from food gathering, ceremonies and spiritual practices for the harvest.

Who gave the Indian to take without permission, who gave the Indian permission not to share something they never had title to in the first place.

So here we all are, out of the Stone Age, planes trains and automobiles, healthcare, medicine, big pickup trucks, fishing boats and modern hunting tools, is this not a better life than murder, rape, slavery and of all our Stone Age Tribal rituals.

When will equality be the law of the day, if we ALL can not play by the same rules then we will continue to further the hate, discrimination and denial, or do some really want equality, after all it's not profitable.

DEI is based on the premise that there is "systemic bias" in hiring. In fact, this premise is false. Ability and merit alone should be the only factors in scientific or medical hiring. If you were about to undergo brain surgery or heart surgery, would you want a surgeon who was hired based on merit or on DEI? Even the woke types would pick merit. DEI could end up killing them. DEI really means anti-white. It is therefore discriminatory. Ideology should not dictate science or medicine; look at times in history when it has done so: Nazi "blood purity" and Soviet psychiatry, both disasters and bastardizations of science. Woke DEI science and medicine are no different: it is putting ideological agenda ahead of scientific truth.

I’ve said it before and will say it again! If you want to be healthy and maintain that state well into your senior years (and actually live to those senior years without being swayed into MAID!!!), stay the hell away from ALL allopathic practicing medical personnel and away from hospitals!! Get yourself a Naturopathic or holistic physician, do plenty of workout-type exercise, eat healthy and get proper rest! You’ll reach an active and happy 100 +!!!!

Here in Victoria BC Vic Gen's ER usually has line ups well into the night, outside because the room inside is full to overflowing. I assume most cities in Canada replicate that look. We've come a long way from the Harper days, a long way down.

Yes, the wife and I have been on location. One night when we were leaving the ER a hospital rep was outside letting folks in the line know it would be an approximate ten hour wait for them. This was just before midnight.
