A new study by the Canadian Taxpayers Federation comparing the average salaries of provincial politicians with those of their U.S. state counterparts found that Canadian provincial representatives are taking significantly more money from taxpayers than their U.S. counterparts.
The study also compares how well each of the provincial and state jurisdictions performs economically and finds that, despite performing worse than their American counterparts, Canadian politicians still have higher salaries than most state officials, and that these higher salaries often correlate with higher taxes for citizens.
