New Brunswick Premier Susan Holt has launched a five-month review of the province’s decade-old fracking ban as U.S. tariffs put new pressure on the provincial economy.
“This is, in fact, the start of a conversation,” Holt told reporters during a press conference on Wednesday.
“This is not a green light to start getting drills in the ground. This is a deliberate five-month-long dialogue with many partners in our province and with you as New Brunswickers to determine if this is something we want to move forward with together.”
The review is in response to the latest round of U.S. tariffs and is exploring New Brunswick’s options for a stronger provincial economy.
