Politicians call out protesters parading hanged effigies of Israeli politicians
Politicians are resoundingly denouncing anti-Zionist protesters who paraded hanged effigies of Israeli politicians wearing kippahs in the streets of Montreal this week.
Politicians from both the Conservative and Liberal parties condemned an anti-Zionist Montreal group for an “unacceptable” display depicting what appeared to be a Jewish man wearing a kippah being hanged. Other images posted by the group suggest the hanged effigies depicted key Israeli politicians and U.S. President Donald Trump.
Elected officials at the municipal, provincial and federal levels have denounced the protest.
Montreal police confirmed to Juno News that the incident is being investigated by the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal’s Hate Incidents and Hate Crimes Unit.
