Police Seize 365,000 contraband cigarettes in Fort McMurray

Policing and contraband tobacco experts have warned that the contraband tobacco market is a major source of funding for organized crime.

A 39-year-old Fort McMurray man was arrested and faces multiple charges after Alberta RCMP seized more than 365,000 illegal cigarettes with an estimated street value of up to $75,000.

According to local news reports, the man faces charges related to possessing a large quantity of contraband cigarettes and defrauding the government.
