Police say Montreal mosque fire not currently investigated as arson, hate crime
Police have not identified the fire as an arson or hate crime investigation, while the cause remains under investigation.
A Montreal Mosque caught fire last week amid claims on social media that the blaze may have been a hate-motivated arson.
The fire damaged the exterior of the Baitul Mukarram Mosque in Montreal’s Côte-des-Neiges neighbourhood in the early hours of the morning last Friday. No one was injured.
The National Council of Canadian Muslims posted that authorities were investigating a “possible arson attack, along with possible hate motivations.”

Yesterday, an area of the Baitul Mukarram Mosque building in Montreal, QC was lit on fire.
The damage is extremely extensive and destructive, but thankfully no one has been hurt.
