Poilievre torches Carney over sky-high gas prices
Poilievre calls on the Liberals to suspend fuel taxes, saying it would bring immediate savings. Dan McTeague joins Kris Sims to break down what’s driving up prices and how much tax is in every litre.
Gas prices are surging across Canada, with some areas now seeing prices spike rapidly to over $1.80 per litre in just a matter of weeks.
Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre is now calling for a suspension of federal fuel taxes for the rest of the year, arguing Canadians are being hit with “tax on tax on tax” every time they fill up. He says immediate relief at the pump is needed as prices continue to climb.
Energy analyst and former Liberal MP Dan McTeague joins Kris Sims to break down what’s driving the spike and why diesel prices in particular have jumped sharply, adding significant costs across transportation and supply chains.
With fuel costs rising rapidly, Kris and Dan discuss how these increases are affecting everyday costs for Canadians, from commuting to the price of goods.

Imagine if Canada had a pool of oil under it…oh it does. Well imagine if that pool had the technology to bring it to the surface…oh it does. But if that pool had pipelines to get it to other points of Canada so the East does not depend on Hormuz…oh it doesn’t.
