Poilievre calls for immediate action to protect property rights in BC
Conservatives call for fee simple property rights to take priority over aboriginal title claims, saying it's “regrettable” that property rights aren’t currently enshrined in the Canadian constitution.
Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre announced a four-point plan for the federal government to take “immediate action” to protect property rights in B.C., as several Indigenous land title claims have many British Columbians fearful their homes may be taken away.
During a press conference in Richmond, B.C. Poilievre declared that he thought it was “regrettable” that property rights were not already enshrined by Canada’s constitution, adding that “property rights are human rights.”
