Poilievre blasts Carney for trying to secure an unelected majority

Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre is slamming Prime Minister Mark Carney for what he calls an undemocratic “powergrab,” accusing the Liberal leader of trying to buy off opposition MPs to seize a majority government that Canadians never gave him.
Poilievre made the comments during an exclusive interview with Juno News host Marc Patrone on Wednesday.
“Mark Carney is trying to manipulate himself a majority that Canadians voted against so that he can concentrate even more power and money in his hands. I think it would be very costly to Canadians if he were allowed to have a majority,” Poilievre said. “He would use that power and the political impunity to raise taxes even more and increase the cost of living for Canadians who can’t afford to pay their bills.”
Poilievre said Carney needs a majority to ward off a potential election if he makes an unpopular decision, such as raising taxes to fund his “out-of-control spending.”
“He’s trying to lock down unquestioned power that Canadians voted against, so that he can massively expand the power, the cost and control of his government. And we can’t allow that,” he said. “We need to respect the will of the people, which was a minority government, and the Canadians people need to have a choice as to whether they are ready for a change, so they can afford homes, afford food and afford to have hope again in the next election.”
When asked about former Liberal cabinet minister Chrystia Freeland’s appointment as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s economic advisor and the potential conflicts of interest, Poilievre called out Carney for having a conflicts-of-interest list “so much bigger” than Freeland’s.
“Frankly, I think it’s ridiculous that She would work for a foreign government while she’s a Canadian Member of Parliament. Beyond that, Mark Carney has enormous conflicts of interest that no one seems to be willing to talk about,” Poilievre said. “He is heavily invested in Brookfield and in offshore tax havens. His company has been called the biggest tax dodger in Canada. He stands to profit from all the subsidies his government is giving to batteries, carbon capture projects, modular housing and all these other things that Canadian taxpayers are forced to fund to profit his bottom line.”
Poilievre said he’s “surprised” Freeland received “such a backlash,” adding that it might be deserved, given Carney’s long list of conflicts as prime minister.
“We’re going to be holding him accountable for that, because we need a prime minister who’s actually working for the Canadian people, not padding his pocket,” he said.
Yesterday, Freeland announced her resignation after serving 12 years as a Liberal MP.

“We’re going to be holding him accountable for that" What will this accountability look like? Canada is waiting to find out. Seems Carney just does exactly just what he wants, and nothing for the Canadian people!
I truly feel that, Carney's case, WHEN it comes, accountability will involve a "grassy knoll" concept.
