Perhaps the PEI government should first review the definition of "Savage". Nowhere in the definition is there any connotation of the word being deemed "offensive or harmful”.

sav·age/ˈsavij/

adjective

1. (of an animal or force of nature) fierce, violent, and uncontrolled. "packs of savage dogs roamed the streets"

2. (of something bad or negative) very great; severe. "the decision was a savage blow for the town"

noun

1. a brutal or vicious person. "the mother of one of the victims has described his assailants as savages"

verb

1. (especially of a dog or wild animal) attack ferociously and maul. "the ewes were savaged by marauding dogs"

Nowhere is there any indication of this word referring to any specific peoples or races. I believe that this renaming, as others that have taken place unnecessarily throughout Canada to satisfy a woke left wing agenda will have a "savage blow on the town".

Stop the madness. History cannot be erased or changed in an effort to make us feel good about ourselves. History is there to teach us those things that we do not want to repeat in the future. To think that name changes and statue defacing and destruction will change the past is short sighted and a shallow attempt to erase history. Enough.

Maybe read some history books instead of the dictionary to better understand why savage is offensive to indigenous people, specifically those who live and use the harbour. My first suggestion is “We were not the Savages” by Daniel Paul.

You need to come up with better arguments than this is just woke, wokery. It’s the equivalent to people the the left calling things they don’t like “alt-right” and MAGA with no real substance.
