The Liberals’ new GST grocery handout will cost taxpayers an estimated $12.4 billion over the next six years, according to a report from the Parliamentary Budget Officer.

Prime Minister Mark Carney announced the new measures would “deliver hundreds of dollars more into the bank accounts of more than 12 million Canadians,” with the one-time payments costing $3.1 billion this year alone.
