Despite telling Canadians that he’s stepped away from all international board positions so that he can serve as prime minister without any conflicts of interest, Liberal leadership candidate Mark Carney still appears to be involved with several.
Carney had said he’d resigned from all of his many roles in the corporate and philanthropic world from the moment he decided to make his bid to become the next Liberal leader and subsequently Canada’s next prime minister over a month ago.
However, his name and face are still active on the Global Carbon Marketing Utility’s about us page, which says that Carney is serving as co-chair.
The GCMU describes itself as “an early-stage financial services organization with a mission to build market infrastructure to help grow the carbon market.”
True North contacted both GCMU and Carney’s campaign to inquire about whether he was still serving as the organization’s co-chair but did not receive a response from either.
