Ottawa is refusing to disclose how much the swearing-in ceremony for the new Governor General will cost taxpayers, despite Prime Minister Mark Carney pledging to cut government spending.

Louise Abour was appointed to be the new Governor General earlier this month, and the swearing-in ceremony will take place on June 8 is expected to cost hundreds of thousands of dollars based on past ceremonies, which include catering for VIP banquets.
