Stats Can reports the average farmer earns $95,140 annually. They don't take into account the average farmer works 60 to 80 hours a week and at all times of day. It doesn't mention the huge capital investment each farmer has in land, equipment and livestock. A Farmer needs a return on capital to grow and sustain the business. The average Canadian may work 30-40 hours a week for their $83,000. They get to go home and not worry about a $100,000 dairy cow ready to calve out.
So discriminating against the people who make our food is the government’s new goal? That will not help the food insecurity that is already growing in this country. Disgusting!

My brother successfully farms the same land in Eastern Ontario that my ancestors farmed since the early 1800s. How dare he be successful. Apparently that's unfair. The only reason he's successful must be because he's white, right?

Agriculture is number four for suicides in Canada. The other careers with more are also male dominated careers (mining, construction, automotive repair). So the Canadian government in its infinite wisdom plans on adding some more stress to their lives? Brilliant. Maybe these male dominated jobs make more money because what they do is tougher than the easier 9 to 5 jobs everyone else is whining about not getting paid enough for.
