An openly gay Ottawa-area school trustee is furious that her board is sitting out an August Pride parade.

Donna Blackburn of the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board (OCDSB) says a “loud group of far-right people” is fuelling growing hostility toward LGBTQ+ communities and Pride events. She did not elaborate on those claims.

“As a school board, as a public entity, they have an obligation to be doubling down against that,” she told the Ottawa Citizen.
