The federal government has unilaterally imposed a temporary ban on paddleboarding and fishing with specific gear on four popular lakes in Banff National Park.

Parks Canada announced Friday that it would be “taking action” to “protect” lakes and rivers in Banff National Park under its updated aquatic invasive species prevention strategy. The strategy restricts certain activities, such as boating, fishing and paddling, on various lakes in Banff National Park, Alberta.
