OPP cocaine probe uncovers 72 guns

A major Ontario Provincial Police investigation into cocaine trafficking has led to the arrest of Balraj Singh, 31, and Kawalbir Singh, 21, both of Brampton, after uncovering not only a cross-border cocaine smuggling operation but also dozens of illegal firearms.
Police allege the pair were involved in trafficking cocaine and smuggling handguns into Canada. Both men face 72 counts of weapons trafficking and one count each of possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine.
Investigators say that on Sept. 11, officers identified a northbound tractor-trailer linked to the ongoing probe. The vehicle, which originated in Toronto, was stopped at a Ministry of Transportation inspection station near Temiskaming Shores, where police executed a search warrant.
Officers say they expected to find cocaine in the trailer—which they did—but also seized 72 handguns and more than 60 other “prohibited devices.”
“This seizure of 72 illegal handguns and dozens of prohibited devices is a powerful example of what can be achieved through co-ordinated, intelligence-led investigations,” said OPP Chief Supt. Mike Stoddart in a release.
“These firearms originated in the United States, highlighting the importance of partnerships with law enforcement agencies across borders,” he added.
Both suspects remain in custody and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Toronto on Oct. 22.
There must be some mistake here….I bet those guns are registered and they just purchased them to go duck hunting with Gary Anandasangerre right? He just got PAL..
If they dig a bit more into this trafficking it wouldn't surprise me to find human trafficking.
