Support of food banks should be for citizens and legal immigrants only. People in the country illegally using food banks to assist them to remain in the country should be barred from accessing resources for legal inhabitants. Illegals need to leave or be removed to reduce the pressure on food, housing, etc. Thus reducing the inflation on such items.
Legal immigration is the only acceptable way to enter the country, fraudsters and line jumpers need to be thrown out.

The current system of GST/PST/HST on certain food items is fairly limited. If you are a price-conscious shopper, you can easily fill your cart with grocery items and pay no sales tax. When I used to do the household shopping, I wouldn't buy ANY food item that attracted GST, just out of principal. (Now my wife does the shopping and she just buys what she feels like.)
The taxes that ARE imposed on selected food items target the shoppers that don't pay attention to what they're buying or simply don't care. You really don't have to buy soda pop or potato chips or that 4-pack of donuts. Many snack items can be made at home with non-taxable ingredients.
Why should I have to read each and every price. ? I buy some treats to treat Myself . At 3/4 of a century old I want some "treats". My shelf life could end any day now. Just leave the government out of the economy and let You and I do what We do best. Win- win deals. Private industry will supply our needs and all will be happy . But government "knows" best , ya right.
