It has been whispered quietly for months.
I’m talking about the idea that Canadian Jews facing antisemitism and antisemitic acts should be let into the United States legally as refugees.
On the weekend, the National Association of Christian lawmakers (NACL) called for President Donald Trump to direct the State Department and the Department of Homeland Security to create “lawful, secure and appropriately expedited pathways” for Jewish Canadians and their family members who “face persecution” in Canada.
This was quickly followed by a retweet from Trump on Truth Social — the first time he’s ever acknowledged that Jewish Canadians need help.
I fully realize that this is likely another attempt by Trump to poke PM Mark Carney in the eye over the failed trade talks.
But if it brings attention to our plight, I don’t care one bit. In fact, I keep hoping that Premier Doug Ford and Carney keep up their “war” of words—and that the Elbozos react like the sheep they are.
(Those of us with common sense know that Canada is a mere flea compared to the U.S. and that Carney walked away from the trade talks for political reasons. The Liberal wins in three by-elections Monday are proof.)
The idea was floated in early August.
The fact that it is starting to take centre stage and that even Oklahoma is ready to settle Canadian Jews should send a strong signal to Carney and his Liberal lemmings that they’ve not only fomented Jew hatred in Canada but have done nothing to get it under control.
As Toronto rabbi Jarred Grover says in a recent FB post, anti-Semitism is off the charts in Canada — with an estimated 7,000 incidents in a country of 41 million people compared to almost 1,000 less in the United States with 342 people.
The Jewish community has contributed so much to the fabric of Canada, donating extensively to hospitals, universities, and the arts.
I have repeatedly said that if big donors depart, Canada will be hollowed out and we will become a country of largely unemployed people expecting handouts.
A leader with a moral compass would be embarrassed, but Carney, his lapdogs, and Justin Trudeau before him brought into Canada hundreds of thousands of refugees from Muslim countries where they are taught to hate the Jews.
What did we expect?
Jews do not have the numbers that the Muslim population in Canada does.
He’s also a liar. In June, he made a cameo appearance at Toronto’s Holy Blossom synagogue where only Liberal Jews (and large Liberal donors) were welcome to mouth all the right words about the rise in anti-Semitism in Canada.
Yet his promised task force to tackle antisemitism — featuring Gaza-loving Omar Alghabra — was not only a slap in the face to those Jews who foolishly trusted him but essentially a non-starter, having met just once.
I sincerely hope, not just for my sake but for many others, that Trump follows through on allowing Jewish Canadians into the U.S. as refugees fleeing rabid anti-Semitism.
Somebody has to stand up. I know those of us with common sense see the writing on the wall, and we’re not willing to wait until the Elbozos get it — if they ever do!
