Are you kidding me that, "If October 7 had happened in Canada, would our leaders respond with Israel’s courage – or apologize for defending us?" Our "leaders" would fall all over themselves making apologies and excuses. Because it probably wouldn't be a bunch of radical Islamist invading, say, the CNE or the Calgary Stampede. It would be a bunch of angry young Indigenous men. If they carried out the same atrocities as Hamas did Oct. 7th, rape, murder, infanticide, blood orgies and kidnapping, Canadian politicians, particularly Liberals, would be pushing each other out of the way to be first to the MSM microphones to talk about "root causes" and "bigotry" and "generational challenges" and the sad legacy or the IRS system.

You say that Israel survives because of "heart." Well, the heart of Canada began to be ripped out with the election of Trudeau 1 in 1968 and continues unabated to this day. And, sadly, unless the people turn from their wickedness and complacency (which may be the greater of the two sins) and return to Godliness we will continue to descend into depravity and hedonism and that never ends well for any nation.

What a great question. What would Canada do?

For some context, I was born in 1944, just prior to the end of WWII. While growing up, the horrors of that conflict, including the Holocaust, were still fresh in everyone's memory. In a factory, just across the street from where I lived in Ottawa - literally a short stone's throw - German POW's still toiled long after the end of the war. There was nothing left in Germany to return to. The foreman at the local abbatoir was an ex-Luftwaffe pilot. So as a youngster, I became fascinated by the entire thing. Still am, in fact.

I am not Jewish, nor do I have any other religious affiliation or leanings. But one thing has remained constant with me throughout my now-long life, and that is a deep and abiding admiration for Israel and its people. To have not only survived the Holocaust, but to prosper in a violent world, surrounded by enemies, in a world that remains so largely antisemitic, is nothing short of a miracle.

The courage and tenacity shown by Israelis defies superlatives.

As to the question posed by Gwyn Morgan? An honest answer to that question would be embarrassing to me. You are correct by noting that we have allowed our own comfort and long isolation from war and tragedy to make us weak.

The West, including Canada, France, and Great Britain have also fallen victim to a kind of "Victor's Privilege" syndrome (from WWII) that they feel will last forever, without any effort.

The West is wrong about that.

Our countries are well on their way to becoming Muslim majorities. I'm not even sure that can be stopped now. On our way to that inevitability it's likely we will be witness to the same type of horror Israel suffered on Oct 7.

It may take such an event to get an answer to your question.
