GREAT QUESTION ... How does the Gov't justify TAXING FOOD ???

.

Edward Gullickson's avatar

Tax on food is only one fraud on the people that have ZERO say . They tax the tax on fuel and some other things .

In the words of Carney, our PM "WHO CARES"

You are so right!! Stop taxing food! I went to get groceries today and the prices are unbelievable!!

BUT, is there not a govt agency that oversees the prices vs the profits??? What are these stores quarterly profits? Are Canadians being gouged by taxes and corrupt businesses???

The hidden industrial carbon tax money scam is quietly taking every ones money all for so called climate change. There is no such thing as climate change it is called weather and has been weather since time began this is the biggest corrupt money scam in the history of this country that I know call Can'tadastan.

I wonder how many mansions Galen Weston owns since Covid?..

Bob Wilkins's avatar

Stop shopping at No Frills as we have done for many years and have no desire to fill multi billionaire Weston's pockets and that includes Loblaws and all of their subsidiaries ie Shoppers Drug Marts etc

Food, clothing, housing are all essentials. They shovel our money into a war in Europe and to countries and people who hate us. Canada needs to end the stranglehold of the Laurentian Elite Liberal Government of Canada which we all know is a division of the politburo in Peking. Canadians are tired of these antisemites and Godless communists in Ottawa. #namethetraitors

This article is rated as: EXCELLENT. I would add, that the conspiracy by the Liberals to DEFRAUD Canadian taxpayers is even FAR MORE INSIDIOUS, going back to the World Summit in Rio, 1992, when THEY AGREED that everyone in North America HAD TO BE MADE CATEGORICALLY POORER, to meet their "social justice" goals. To that end, instead of raising the living standard of the very poor, they impoverish everyone to the same dismal level. The mechanism you ask? THE GLOBAL WARMING FRAUD IS THE FOUNDATIONAL FRAUD. They agreed to tax the world on every breath of air, every bite of food, and every sip pf water, using CARBON PRICING. I am calling them out as criminals and frauds, as everyone should be doing. By the way, indigenous land claims are a part of their fraudulent activities, as is the Covid fraud. People produce carbon, they say... bye bye to useless eaters, the weak, the sick, the old... MaiD in Canada. The unfunded liability is disappearing at exactly the same rate as "excess deaths" by government mandated injections. Merry Christmas? Yes, in spite of the frauds in government, justice is coming. Merry Christmas indeed... and to all, a happy New Year. Conservative floor crossers excepted... coal is coming for Christmas. By the way, the collusion by the manufacturers with government to defraud the taxpayers by altering weights and measures to enable taxation has not been unnoticed. God hates that particular method of cheating the poor. CEO's are advised to consider what is coming.

Leave the gods out of your article and its right on the money. Religion and politics have been our masters since Sumer to Egypt. Try using happy CHILDMAS as our season's greeting since every child is equal to a Christ child, bar none, Yoda. (An aside on this topic, the Muslims have to go and their culture taken out of our education system. Its bad enough that we have an unhealthy dosage of LBGT diatribe so we don't need more obfuscation. Without prejudice.

Sylvain Charlebois isn’t this the man that the liberals gasp and roll their eyes at the mention of his name in the HOC.

Typical, truly the party of the people.

Good piece, one more suggestion.

An audit targeting gouging in Canada’s grocery stores, it’s so obvious now it won’t be difficult. Padding prices. Why is there a $3.00 difference on the same item within store chains owned by the same company? Just asking?

Don Hrehirchek's avatar

I think I can partially explain the difference in prices in the same chain. Each store may be owned by a proprietor that has good business sense. Where as others may not ! That is have good business sense!

TLF's avatar

I agree. Business owners in the construction business go to jail for price fixing, bill padding etc..

Loblaws got nailed for bread and I’m sure they’re making that fine up quickly by increasing prices under the guise of inflation.

It’s whatever the market will pay. With homelessness and food bank usage at ridiculous levels it’s hard to watch.

Don Hrehirchek's avatar

Yes I have to agree.

No, we shouldn’t be taxed on ‘food’. But much of what you call ‘food’ in this emotionally charged appeal to outrage is NOT ‘food’. It’s junk and ‘food-like substances’, to quote Michael Pollan, and if taxing it steers shoppers toward real ‘food’ and learning how to cook from scratch, to shop local and buy fresh basic foodstuffs in season, and their meat from a local abbattoir, I’m all for that. All those items you listed in high dudgeon that they are taxed? Granola bars, yogurt, packages of cookies and muffins? I make those. I buy 10 kg bags of flour on sale, I make my own bread, biscuits, cookies, and yogurt, and used to make my own granola. Up until I moved to a cottage, I had a kitchen garden and grew my own vegetables, including 12 red and 12 white cabbages annually, for sauerkraut; cucumbers and beets for pickles. I kept bees for the honey, chickens for eggs and meat, raised a few pigs. I also worked full time, hearing in my mind, ‘Who has time, I work’. And although my 6 kids are all grown and gone, I did this when they were still home. All of them have thanked me for teaching them to cook, to read labels, to buy basics and not to subsidize the factory farmers and massive prepared food conglomerates swamping us in unhealthy overly processed and overpriced food imitations. When I stand behind someone’s cart in the checkout line and see no bags of apples or potatoes, no recognizable animal anatomy, not a head of lettuce or bunch of carrots in sight,

nothing but boxes of processed faux ‘food’ which is covered in high-tech full-colour eye-catching expensively produced packaging, I know that these eaters are going to be throwing more value out of its total price in the trash than down their throats. THAT stuff should be taxed as a civic duty; it’s fraud pretending to be substance.

Nuts, not taxable. Salted nuts, taxable. Taxes on climates taxes. Taxes on used goods that have already been fully taxed. Every April 1st, sin taxes increased automatically to pay for the automatic annual MP increases that are based on large union settlements. SSssshhh, the Liberals have not yet implemented a per person, scaled carbon dioxide exhale tax based upon weight.

$78 billion dollar deficit, $50 billion in new spending, $1.4 trillion dollar debt, $55 billion debt servicing and climbing, money flowing like water in the flooded Fraser Valley, this is what low information voters put their elbows up and voted for more of. 11 years of huge deficits making Liberal bagmen, Laurentians, natives, social justice warriors, richer every day while real Canadians are homeless and going to food banks. Will the collapse be necessary before the rebuild begins?

Carney just wants to expand our population to 100 million by 2100 - he just put Mr. Wiseman, the head of the 2100 club, up for ambassador to the USA - this is his hidden agenda . Also, he has no intention of allowing a new pipeline - he is just posturing. Why is he still promoting the ecomonster agenda of climate change - no other countries are?????

The politicians don’t care because the taxpayer pays for most of their expenses.

I can think of one, in particular, that had the nerve to expect taxpayers to pay for their groceries too and you can be sure - it was all organic and the expensive stuff !

What about the taxation on growing your own food? Vegetable and herb seeds-taxed. Fruit trees, strawberry plants, herbs, peppers, tomato starts, any other edible transplants…. Taxed

It’s high time individuals should be encouraged to grow their own produce, not taxed out of doing so.

William Stewart's avatar

There are so many ways the current Federal and the Provincial Governments (at least most of them) are killing the country and its people.

Taxes are only one of them and Canada, amongst those countries who for some reason still seem to recognize it as a country, is now one of the most taxed countries in those groups.

Canada has pretty much taxes on everything and has become incredibly adept at hiding a lot of them or calling them something else altogether even though they are, in reality taxes...

A "Levy" is a tax.. Remember OntArWeOwe's "FAIR SHARE HEALTH LEVY"?

An Assessment is a Tax as in the FEDS "Environment Assessment" stealthily added to energy production or distribution.

Canada is a cold country but Hydro, Gas, Oil ... ALL TAXED BIG TIME much multiple times at different levels.

If there were not so many other things in Canada that are now killing it, lead (of course) by the frauds Federally the new motto of Canada could be:

KILLING THE COUNTRY ONE TAX AT A TIME.
