OP-ED: Tamara Lich’s presence at Ottawa’s 4th of July event makes leftists freak out
"But I’d say the biggest abuse was from the Twitterati after I posted a picture of Tamara Lich and myself. The responses were so nasty, so unhinged, and so vindictive."
Shortly after I arrived at Saturday’s Fourth of July event at U.S. Ambassador Pete Hoekstra’s Ottawa residence, I ran into Convoy Freedom crusader Tamara Lich.
For years, I have greatly admired her tenacity, her strength and her fight for what’s right despite being subjected to the Liberal government’s obsessive witch hunt and vindictive lawfare.
Having never met her in person, I introduced myself.
She came across as remarkably poised and classy considering what she has been through, including being tossed in jail and denied bail by a Liberal judge and dragged through the courts for years — all, I firmly believe, because she embarrassed former Liberal PM Justin Trudeau with her protest and upset entitled Ottawans.
Lich told me she is still on house arrest after being convicted of mischief last April for her role in the 2022 anti-COVID vaccine trucker protest. That remains until the year’s end, forcing her to obtain detailed permission from her parole officer in Medicine Hat to leave Alberta to attend events like she did Saturday for Rebel News.
Once her sentence is over, she will still have a 10 p.m. curfew and have to do 100 hours of community service.
The Crown is appealing her sentence, asking to jail her for seven years. This is tantamount to abusive political lawfare.
But I’d say the biggest abuse was from the Twitterati after I posted a picture of Lich and myself.
After two days, the tweet had 77,000 impressions, 138 comments (mostly nasty), and 1,000 likes.
It — along with Lich’s own tweet — clearly triggered many miserable leftists, particularly the Liberal media and Ottawa elitists.
The responses were so nasty, so unhinged, so vindictive, it convinced me there is a strata of Canadians who love to prey and pile on the misfortunes of others.
Perhaps their own lives are so empty that it makes them feel better.
Hey, it’s not as if she’s thrown rocks at an innocent Jew, or is a drug dealer who murdered an innocent mom in east Toronto, or robbed LCBO stores — all which seem to be perfectly okay in our topsy turvy woke country.
This guy from out west threatened to contact her parole officer. He was obviously miffed at her ability to break out of her house arrest for one day. He implied she should be shackled.
Economist Jim Stanford, who used to work for CAW, practically lost it with his mean tweet. I’m not sure why it should bother him so much since he’s currently applying his labour union policies in Australia:
There were many suggestions that Lich should be wearing an ankle monitor and that she should be tossed back in jail.
She was called a traitor, as was I, for attending the 4th of July garden party.
One-time NDP MPP Cheri de Novo, who has gone back to the cloth, certainly showed her unchristian behaviour with this tweet:
This failed journalist had a severe case of FOMO:
And the far-left Luc LeBrun of Press Progress did a rundown full of specious claims on all the far-right people and “suspicious characters” who attended, even attempting to list why they allegedly lack integrity. It was so childish and petty:
It’s the same brainwashed irrational hate that has been fomented by the Liberals and loathsome Prime Minister Mark Carney to convince Canadians not to travel to the United States, particularly last winter.
I’ve even had gay women suggest they’d be thrown into internment camps if they venture south of the border — something so ludicrous, I’m not sure what to respond.
Hoekstra told me at the event that they can say whatever they want, but he’s not going to “deal with nonsense.”
I asked him why some Canadians are so afraid to travel south of the border.
He said he has no clue why they have that notion.
”We’re trying to do prosperity, safety and security on both sides of the border,” he said, clearly peeved not at me but at what some Canadians (the Elbows Up crowd) have been manipulated to think.
”If Canadians and Canadian leadership have a different view of what they want to bring to the Canadian people,” he added, trailing off.
”We’re doing just fine.”
I know that because I don’t let myself be brainwashed into not traveling there.
But I’m guessing that in the divisive country the Liberals have created, it truly bothers the Liberal elitists and Elbow’s Up types to see those whom they’ve been manipulated to treat with disdain and disapproval, having a great time — at a U.S. event yet?
After all, how can they deceive Canadians when Americans are treating us with open arms?
Never mind that the object of their (faux) outrage — Tamara Lich — was enjoying herself.
She was supposed to be in chains, goddamit.

Tamara Lich is a Canadian hero and one day will have a statue
