It’s called how to win friends and influence enemies Doug Ford style.
In his latest effort to ensure both President Donald Trump and Florida governor Ron DeSantis think we’re a bunch of fools in Canada, Ontario’s premier went off on a rant earlier this week about the trade war.
He called Trump a “tyrant.”
He also said he’s taking one for the team and not coming down to Florida this Christmas but that others shouldn’t let Trump ruin their vacation plans.
To further antagonize his counterparts south of the border, he claimed Florida tourism is way down and the state is hurting.
He urged people to stay home in cold snowy Ontario.
Just for the record, I’ll pass on that.
This led Florida governor to fire right back at Ford about Florida tourism breaking records from April to June.

That indeed is true but let’s put it all in perspective.
The stats are from the spring/early summer. Overall visits to Florida were up but Canadian visits were down by 20%.
That could be for a number of reasons including the Canadian dollar, the economy in Canada and the time of year, in addition to the manipulation by the Elbow’s Up crowd and legacy media.
But naturally stats are not yet available for this time of year.
So we don’t really know what the situation is.
While tourism from Canada may be down this year, Florida is not hurting, trust me.
Snowbirds are still coming, including Canadians.
Perhaps they’re just not shouting it from the rooftops for fear the Elbow’s Up cult will harass them.
Believe me, I saw that last week on social media when I dared post that my flight to Fort Lauderdale was full. I got lectured repeatedly that there were far less flights coming down to Florida from the self-righteous cult members.
Still, I see full restaurants, busy stores, traffic and people with smiles on their faces enjoying the sunshine.
It was no surprise that the legacy media jumped right on Ford’s comments seeing as they are dutiful to their Elbow’s Up anti-U.S. benefactor Mark Carney.
I also suspect they want everyone to be as miserable as them.
But getting back to Ford, this guy has made a mockery of himself with his anti-Trump, anti-U.S. antics.
We still can’t buy American liquor or wine in the LCBO.
So I’m enjoying it here in Florida.
Who can forget Ford’s little tirade in September when he poured out an entire bottle of Crown Royale to protest Diageo’s decision to shift bottling operations to the U.S. from Amherstburg, Ontario.
Or that stupid Ronald Reagan ad in October — which cost taxpayers a whopping $75-million — to fight Trump’s tariffs.
That effectively ended any and all trade talks with the U.S.
If only our Premier would have as much gumption when it comes to tackling the disturbing rise in anti-Semitism in Toronto and Ontario.
But that requires intestinal fortitude and a moral compass beyond simply doing what’s easiest to shore up votes.
I wish the egomaniac would just keep quiet when it comes to Trump and travel south of the border.
Frankly, he can stay home and freeze.
No one really cares.
