The legacy media has been positively frothing at the mouth since last fall trying to indoctrinate Canadians not to spend this winter in any traditional U.S. sun spots.
We’ve heard all kinds of crazy B.S. like ICE agents will arrest Canadians, that it is unsafe to cross the border and even that gay people will be thrown into interment camps (and yes, I’ve been told the latter more than once.)
The Elbow’s Up boomers have spent months proudly telling us they’re not traveling to the U.S., many of them declaring — self righteously — that they will enjoy Canada instead this winter.
I have to wonder whether after two months of bitter cold and raging snowstorms, they still feel the same — not that they would ever admit that they’re fed up with one tough winter.
Others, who normally come south, have said they won’t come to Florida, or Arizona, while U.S. President Donald Trump is in office.
Not that the President has affected my life in any way during my winter in Florida.
But my efforts to tell people they have nothing to worry about have regularly fallen on deaf ears.
Unhinged, brainwashed Canadians — never risk takers to begin with — have received their marching orders from their politicians and the legacy media.
PM Mark Carney and Premier Doug Ford told Canadians not to visit the U.S. this winter and Justin Trudeau before them (even though he seems to have no trouble venturing south of the border to visit his new galpal Katy Perry).
In fact, Canada’s national broadcaster — propped up with grants from Carney — has zealously and proudly reported how the “Trump effect” has resulted in a considerable decline in the number of Canadian snowbirds in Florida this season.
Frankly, CBC I couldn’t give a damn.
And I’ll betcha Trump couldn’t care less either.
All the believers are doing is hurting themselves.
But the very, very best is how the Elbow’s Up lemmings took the advice of the legacy media to travel to Mexico instead of Florida or Arizona or Texas this year.
They were indoctrinated — by media who never actually do their homework or engage in critical thinking — that the U.S. is too dangerous to visit but Mexico is the answer, the panacea with better weather and golf.
The weather is good and the Canadian dollar does go slightly further as well, I’ll admit.
Now I’ve been to Mexico many times — the last trip was to Cabos San Lucas and Mexico City 1.5 years ago. I’ve also visited Puerto Vallarta, Cancun, Cozumel and the Mayan Riviera.
But for heaven’s sake, what Canadian tourist, what Canadian media personality and what travel expert overlooked the fact that Mexico is run by drug cartels?
I’m always warier when I travel to Mexico.
On the safety scale, I’d venture to say that exploding cars and buses and warnings to tourists in Puerto Vallarta to “shelter in place” over the past few days — following the killing of drug kingpin “El Mencho” — is far more terrifying than crossing the border into the United States.
I’m just saying.
Even Tuesday as the chaos settled down, future travellers — especially those planning to visit Puerto Vallarta during spring break — are being warned to cancel their trips for fear the cartels could start up again.
In south Florida, where I’ve been over the past few months, there have been no cars set on fire, no chaos, no looting, no orders to shelter in place and no cancelled flights (except due to the raging snowstorms up in Toronto).
In other words, there has been nothing to fear except the fact that my fellow Canadians have been so easily duped into believing the U.S. is unsafe.
I certainly am not laughing at what has occurred in Puerto Vallarta but I do chuckle at the great irony of Canadians who thought they were so clever to avoid the U.S. and venture to the “safety” of Mexico instead.
Perhaps next winter, Canadians will use their noggins instead of being whipped into a frenzy about Trump by the legacy media and our feckless leaders.
But I doubt it.
I did not go to Florida the last couple of years, it has nothing to do with Trump who in fact I get, but the shitty Canadian dollar caused by the liberals who don't seem to have any plans for anything.

... Also .... Carney, the MSM the Elbowzoe crowd are well beyond simply feckless.
Perhaps one day they will figure out this does not end well for any of them.
Sadly the rest of Canada who actually gets it will also be flushed down the toilet with these idiots.
