David Solway writes, "Politics progressively sucks the joy out of everything. Comedy becomes ideological instruction. Art becomes activism. Even humour feels pinched, supervised and reactionary."
That's why the Canadian government works so hard to stiffle interesting Art and good comedians , using tools like hate speech laws , and "human rights tribunals"...
In my early days I read accounts of the 1600s Salem witch trials and “Malleus Maleficorum” (“Hammer of Witches”) text which was a guide to discovering and punishing witchcraft.
At the time book reviews decried the practice as the work of ignorant peasants. Now seeing the development and application hate speech laws by Liberals in Canada it seems that history is repeating itself.
It’s really ironic that a practice of ultra religious deliberately know -nothing Puritans has been adopted by a godless (euphemistically called “secular”) government and its functionaries. At least puritan christianity had elements of charity and forgiveness in it. Neither of these are present in the current Canadian legislative and enforcement environments.
The Left sucks the joy out of everything, blaming everyone else for their failures & mistakes, living miserable lives and dying miserable deaths. I try to avoid them whenever I can, which is another reason I love living in Alberta where that is possible.
