Much of social science is the academic equivalent of basket weaving. It is based on psychology and psychiatry which are, themselves, historically recent inventions. Prior to Freud, Jung and company, charlatans all, it was the family, societal norms and the Church that one turned to for advice and guidance on moral, ethical and spiritual matters. The Social Sciences are an offshoot of the delusion that a stranger somehow has more insight into how you think and how you should live than those who are intimately invested in your life.
Well said. Especially, your last sentence. The social sciences as a "caring" profession has exploded with midwits meddling all over the place. I read a quote somewhere along the lines of "family are those that want the best for you." It's family that truly "cares." It's family that recognizes reality and is invested in you. It's family that will bear the ultimate responsibility and accountability of the direction of its members. The social scientists that can dispense their "wisdom" and walk away regardless of what happens to those they've "advised" are worse than useless.
I still remember my first interview, some 50 + years ago, when I was in my early teens, and I would be working with higher education individuals than myself. I mentioned to this to the senior person that was doing my interview, and his comment back to me was “let me tell you young fella, education breeds ignorance in-lot of cases, do your work” and believe me you can see it is even more evident in today’s society!!
Social science is an opinion. No actual science is used to determine their opinion. Propaganda could be called a science. It is nothing but opinion dressed up with egocentric people with a belief that their opinion is what matters.
Can there be anything else to screw up the country. This busted landscape is in total ruin. And then we get arse oles like this throwing their bs into center ring of the mess. And this being some more of those highly graduated idiots.
Can we say this could apply to our PM and his PhD??? Economics is a social science, although I have difficulty considering it a "science"; same for political "science".
Well.....once a defender of first past the post......without some changes it will continue to fail us....since 2015 we have had liberal govts propped up by cozy deals with the NDP and Bloc and the same shit show with Ontario/Quebec filling their pockets with western money.......The last 2 elections federally and in BC provincially Conservatives have had the majority vote but ZERO representation.....this crap will end when Alta goes its own way and forces the rest of us to followl
Wells, a Trudeau appointee o the Senate for the purpose of promoting and upholding of Bill C-16, commonly known as the transgender rights bill, writes 'educational' materials for children of all ages. Therefore his work is tainted by an idological belief totally divorced from reality.
Fantastic commentary. Thanks to both Christine Van Geyn from the CCF and Juno News for the opportunity to READ and Learn more about these decisions. Am not certain we would be reading or hearing about these in the mainstream media. Keep up the great work!!
“None of this means social science evidence is always irrelevant or unnecessary. But courts should treat it with skepticism, scrutinize the boundaries of expertise, and reject evidence that strays into advocacy or ideology. Policy debates are best left to elected representatives, where the public can hold them accountable.”
I’m persuaded that “social science” is not science and is irrelevant and unnecessary as it is “evidence” of opinion only.
Indeed, we have flawed leaders. But Voters also neglect their responsibility to be well informed and to hold elected officials accountable. The best credentials are character traits- like honesty, humility…something about the process, power, position seems to erode character.
I couldn’t agree more! I vote according to record, integrity and the traits you noted - as far as holding elected officials accountable, the “system” makes that pretty difficult. Corruption abounds!

Thank you for your first sentence. Also, well said!
This is critically important stuff.

Yes, you are right about that as well. Especially that newly appointed pm. But I still believe this all planned for.
I agree.
Social “science” is opinion dressed up in academic garb.
Social science is worse than simply an opinion.
It's a tool used to force compliance of the masses.
Propaganda BS used to make sane rational people appear crazy.
In it’s extreme, yes, you are correct.

My feelings should determine your guilt.
lol
How dare you laugh at me! How dare you!
Officer, arrest this human. My feelings are under attack.
“None of this means social science evidence is always irrelevant or unnecessary.”
I disagree. Social ”science” is as hokey as star signs or rain dances.
The whole discipline, and I use that loosely, needs to be dismantled and replaced with nothing.
Maybe we should ask CBC for a ruling. They probably have an expert.
All those 15 that have written in are so correct. All is not lost, I hope!

Basically how I read all this is the insane ruling the sane…
yup...and it's driving US insane!!..maybe that's the plan???

But but but….. I also have little faith in elected representatives. Many of them with NO credentials to recommend them for policy debates. 😬😬😬

Great article! Will it set precedent for other cases?
