OP-ED: Carney’s UN speech shows he’s out of his depth on Gaza

Why the hell did we ever think an elitist banker — who has more in common with his European Union pals than the average Canadian — would be able to manage foreign affairs with finesse, courage and competence, let alone the country?
Is he just out of his depth or grossly incompetent?
To suggest, as he did at the UN Tuesday, that he’d send in peacekeeping troops from Canada to help achieve “lasting peace” in Gaza — a “fully demilitarized Gaza” as he put it — is beyond laughable.
So on the one hand, Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu is bad, bad, bad for sending in the IDF to eradicate a death cult that has brutally murdered many Palestinians in addition to innocent Israelis. But Carney thinks our ineffectual troops should disarm and assist in the elimination of Hamas?
My goodness, this guy is beginning to sound like more of a buffoon than his predecessor, if that’s possible.
For one thing, do we have any troops that can do the job?
And what does he plan to do with them? Send them into the Hamas tunnels to find the rest of the terrorists who are hiding out?
They wouldn’t last a day.
What part of the many attempts to reach a peace deal with Hamas — and the fact that Hamas always walks away — does our PM not understand?
What part of the Hamas charter that calls for the eradication of Israel does he not understand, either?
What part of the many ceasefires broken — including Oct. 7 — does he choose to ignore?
Or is he just wilfully blind?
Carney, who seems to think Parliamentary debate or consent doesn’t apply to him, also boasted that he’s pledged another $47-M more in funding to Gaza to “strengthen their government and administrative systems.”
What administrative systems?
In total, Canada has given Gaza $400 million, he said.
I’m sure Hamas is very happy to use that money to feed their bellies or to build more hideouts.
Look I knew Prime Minister Mark Carney would be everything he’s turned out to be — narcissistic, arrogant, pompous, intolerant of another point of view and not exactly the economics genius those who supported him thought he’d be.
He is Machiavellian, however, judging by the weak-minded Elbow’s Up crowd, he managed to convince to defend Canada at all costs against the Big Bad Orange Man south of the border.
When he announced on Sunday that he planned to recognize Palestine as a state — without any conditions or an actual country in place — and then 24 hours later released a video wishing Canadian Jews a sweet New Year, I wasn’t surprised.
He is just that soulless.
But the fact that all the Jewish members of caucus — Evan Solomon, Julie Dubrusin and even that nebbish Anthony Housefather — allowed him to use them in his little Rosh Hashanah video, shows how easily he can manipulate those desperately in need of some validation.
But after watching the videos of him speaking at the UN and hearing US President Donald Trump talking bluntly (and with humour) about the failed immigration policies of Carney’s European pals (Emanuelle Macron and Keir Sturmer to name two) and the uselessness of the U.N. I realized the problem.
I suspect Carney hates strong, decisive and outspoken men like Trump and Benjamin Netanyahu and believes himself to be better, smarter and of a different class than them.
To make himself appear more powerful and relevant, he has forged alliances with two equally weak leaders: Emmanuelle Macron and Keir Sturmer.
He doesn’t give a hoot about Canada and certainly not the Jewish community.
It’s all about him.
It takes real courage and a strong moral compass to fight the rising evil in the world.
Carney has neither.
Trouble is, no matter how foolish he sounds, he still thinks he’s the smartest guy in the room.
Carney has proved that he is arrogant and feels like he is a King. He can make decisions without going to parliament who are supposed to vote on behalf of their constituents. He talked about the rise of authoritarianism at the UN this past week and he is right. He's one of those authoritarians.
He doesn't appear to even care about the people of his riding that voted him in. Does he even have a constituency office yet?
This acceptance of Palestine as a state is more about getting votes to keep him in power so that he can achieve his goals of increasing his portfolio (and those of his elitist buddies) to the detriment of Canadians. Sending troops (if we have enough to send over there) in to keep the peace will lead to the deaths of Canadian soldiers because we know Hamas doesn't want peace.
Well....good article, but the answer is obvious given Carney's whispers of sweet nothings to his Dearest Comrades in the CCP [engineers planning the economy and all that...] - It is likely that not only are the Liberals taking money from China/CCP, but also likely from Islamic organizations. Why else give support to a palestinian state while they still hold hostages, rape children, slaughter elderly in their beds, etc? Everything has a price and apparently Carney is cheap to buy.
