Is Liberal leader Mark Carney a perfect example of excessive hubris or does he want to divide and destroy Canada one foolish statement at a time?
In a Napleonesque response to U.S. president’s proposed 25% tariff on the import of cars not manufactured in the United States, Carney said the “relationship with the US … is over.”
He also accused Trump of wanting a trade war so he can “own” Canada and that Canada will need to “pivot trade relationships elsewhere” (we presume Europe). Carney also threatened retaliatory trade actions (tariffs) — a statement he reiterated to Trump in a phone call Friday.
The statements were delivered in a boring monotone without the slightest bit of charm or humour whatsoever. I suppose Carney and his handlers (all Trudeau leftovers) believe this is how a “big man” stands up to someone they see as a bully. But Carney is certainly not my Prime Minister and I resent that he thinks he has the authority to speak for all Canadians.
Most of us didn’t anoint him as Justin Trudeau’s successor. This is why he is all wrong for the job during this fiscal crisis.
My relationship with the United States is certainly not “over.” Many Canadians agree with me. Threatening retaliatory tariffs is the exact wrong thing to do and makes him come across as a whiny, childish man with poor judgement.
Instead of embarrassing us with threats and boxing Canadians into a corner, I want a leader who concedes Canada has trade, immigration and drug issues and who comes up with a campaign plan to address these issues.
Conservative Leader Pierre Polievre is doing just that, despite the constant noise and bias from the Trudeau-subsidized media. Let’s face it, as I’ve said before, the Liberals have turned Canada into one hot mess with a steady stream of refugees reliant on handouts and freebies and no plan to properly vet who is allowed into Canada.
We don’t want to hear him throw a temper tantrum or lie about Trump’s motivations either because his own party has made Canada far too reliant on the United States and our dollar is in the toilet.
But I’ve found this is what substitutes for leadership among the Liberal left—take no responsibility for their failures and attach blame to someone else.
Or they virtue signal with ridiculous pronouncements, most of them highly ineffectual.
Ontario Premier Doug Ford’s decision to remove U.S. liquor from LCBO shelves comes to mind. Carney’s “Elbow’s Up” campaign with an ad featuring comedian Mike Myers — who has done very well in the United States — is another example. He and his party are of the school that if you repeat war cries enough, you can indoctrinate Canadians.
So he repeats statements — almost obsessively — such as “we won’t back down; we are strong when we are together; we have to look out for ourselves; we have to look out for each other.”
That’s code for “Either you’re with us or you’re not a true Canadian.”
I’m not fooled for a minute. Neither are most thinking Canadians. But sadly, far too many have swallowed this hyperbole hook, line and sinker.
As I’ve said before, a combination of Trump Derangement Syndrome and an intense need to belong to something, has made far too many Born Again Canadian patriots susceptible to this nonsense.
This is why I believe Carney’s real intention is not to fight the tariffs but to make Canadians fight each other.
This elitist doesn’t have the depth of experience or the empathy to understand the troubles facing an average Canadian.
Out of gas and out of creative ideas, the Liberals hope that their war cries will resonate enough to win.
It’s called divide and conquer, Liberal style.
The only thing ASS HAT Carney is interested in is doing what the Communist Chinese and the Wef tell him to do. Carney is a Weak POS and is working against Canada not for Canada. Anyone who votes for this POS is also against Canada .
Exactly!
