OP-ED: Carney elevates DEI pick to head the Public Health Agency of Canada

It’s as if our Prime Minister just played another cruel joke on Canadians.

Among his many accomplishments since coming to office — besides his obvious Jew hatred and amazingly weak grasp of geopolitics— Mark Carney just appointed a morbidly obese woman to the position of president of the Public Health Agency of Canada.

The new “not so healthy” health honcho — Nancy Hamzawi —will make $296,000 per year.

Contrast her with the Health and Human Services Secretary south of the border, Robert Kennedy Jr., still extremely buff at 70.

Hamzawi is also a practicing Muslim who wears a headscarf.

I have no issue with that, except to say that it seems meritocracy was not involved in the choice.

The choice should be about looking the part and practicing what one preaches.

Do our officials who appointed her to the job think she will command respect as a representative of Canada’s Health Agency?

Or maybe they don’t care.

DEI is clearly more important under the Liberals and Carney, who has picked up right where Justin Trudeau left off.

Let’s take a look at Hamzawi’s track record. It is indeed the Peter Principle in action.

She is not the slightest bit transparent as she has protected her tweets on X.

The career civil servant holds only a Master's in chemical engineering, no PhD or MD, or no background in infectious diseases.

According to her own LinkedIn bio, she has moved from federal department to department, a great deal of her experience in climate change and various senior environmental portfolios.

How many boxes does that tick off? Enough to make Carney very happy.

This clip is from a conference at which she was a speaker in 2017. If you can decipher what she’s trying to say in between the numerous “uhs” you are a far better person than I.

She joined Health Canada in May of 2020 as assistant deputy minister of the COVID-19 Testing, Tracing and Data Strategy.

It seems in that role, she was highly paid to oversee the collection of data on how many Canadians caught and died of COVID.

That didn’t last long before she was moved to the Health Products and Food Branch. In her role as ADM, one of her jobs was to determine food nutrition policies.

Oh my goodness. Is this for real?

She has been at the Public Health Agency since February 2023. She is the 5th president in as many years.

The agency oversaw vaccine mandates and isolation edicts.

According to reports, an audit found that the agency wasted more than $1B on unused vaccines, threw out ventilators before COVID and wasn’t as prepared for the pandemic as it should have been.

We should remember that Hamzawi was connected with COVID for much of those five years.

Perhaps she was appointed to continue to cover up the mistakes of retired Chief Medical Officer of Health Teresa Tam, or the agency itself.

Or maybe it is just yet another in-your-face example of Carney’s andthe Liberal government’s ineptness.

Whatever the reason, Nancy Hamzawi is the last person who should be in any senior health ministry role.

But DEI and pandering to radicals have taken precedence in Canada over talent and merit.
