The Ottawa-Carleton District School Board wants to charge an eye-watering $45,000 for access to diversity, equity and inclusion teacher training — a fee estimate the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Ontario has upheld as reasonable.

As part of an ongoing investigation, Juno News filed several freedom of information requests with school boards across Ontario, seeking diversity, equity and inclusion professional development materials and consultant invoices between 2020 and 2025. While the wording of the requests was largely consistent, the fee estimates varied dramatically.
