While working families struggle with the rising cost of living, Ontario’s MPPs are set to rake in an automatic pay hike this April. Now, the Canadian Taxpayers Federation is demanding all provincial politicians reject the salary increase.

The 4.2 per cent pay raise will automatically bump MPs’ salaries by $6,609 to $11,849 on April 1.

“MPPs shouldn’t be trying to give themselves a big pay raise while taxpayers are struggling to make ends meet with the rising cost of living,” said CTF Ontario director Noah Jarvis. “Especially when the government is borrowing tens of billions of dollars each year just to keep the lights on.”
