Ontario judge decries justice system for favouring foreign criminals

Ontario Justice Antonio Skarica says Canada's justice system must avoid prioritizing the needs of foreign-born criminals over the vulnerable Canadians they have abused.

An Ontario judge is sounding the alarm on Canada’s justice system, warning it’s bending over backwards for foreign offenders while vulnerable Canadians are left to deal with harsher consequences.

According to Ontario Justice Antonio Skarica, the Canadian judiciary is “at an inflexion point” in the wake of his ruling on a case involving a Nigerian university student who extorted a Canadian woman, leaving her in “constant fear” about a sexually explicit video of her.
