Olivia Chow pushes ICE agent ban for FIFA World Cup in Toronto
ICE currently has offices in five Canadian cities.
Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow is attempting to ban U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) from operating in the city during the FIFA World Cup.
“ICE has demonstrated through their actions in Minnesota and across the U.S. that they bring fear and disorder, not safety and security,” said Chow in her motion on Friday. “Any ICE presence in Toronto is liable to create fear during a time when we want to welcome the world and ensure that everyone feels safe.”
