The only downfall I see of non-LCBO stores in Ontario is the large selection the LCBO offers. Smaller retailers will offer only limited selection. Unless of course, the LCBO were to become privatized, but I still like the billions of dollars the LCBO delivers to the government ANNUALLY. Privitization with an additional yearly pay-out could work though. But would the dumb-a$$ who negotiates it think of such a thing? The other concern is; would one of Doug's buddies be given the rights?

Removing American booze from shelves is stupid. Especially here in Ontario as the booze has already been paid for before it hits the shelves - and yes, I did confirm this with an LCBO employee. Even they/them (I don't want to give away they's/them's identity) thought it was absolutely a stupid thing to do. Doug Ford; you're demonstrating more and more that you're an IDIOT!
I think the liquor board needs to go to hell and stay there with the dairy board , the cbc , health Canada and the FIA to name a few

Alberta privatized long ago. Same concerns expressed at the time.
The Government never lost a cent in revenue and in many cases product selection increased with the rise of "Specialty" stores.

Government Liquor stores are such an anomaly in the world. Pot everywhere, but liquor controlled.
... and we are drinking more taxes than alcohol. Monopolies are never good for consumers, especially government monopolies.
