Nine Indigenous communities in Ontario have launched a legal challenge with the Ontario Superior Court of Justice against Bill C-5 and a provincial law known as Bill 5, claiming that they present a “clear and present danger” to their way of life.
Bill C-5 was introduced by the Carney government to accelerate the approval process for major infrastructure projects deemed in the ‘national interest’ and to remove interprovincial trade barriers.
