A driving instructor working for multiple schools across the Niagara region has been arrested and charged in connection with a sexual assault investigation involving a young person, police say.

On Wednesday, May 20, 2026, police arrested 37-year-old Nithin Peter Bennis of Niagara Falls. He has been charged with sexual exploitation and sexual assault.

The investigation began on Friday, May 8, 2026, after officers with the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) 1 District (St. Catharines/Thorold) received allegations of sexual assault. According to police, the alleged incident took place during a driving lesson when the suspect was instructing the victim.
