More than one-fifth of employed Canadians now work for the government, according to the data from Statistics Canada, a cohort that has been rapidly growing since the COVID-19 pandemic.

The latest Labour Force Survey revealed that as of January, 4.597 million Canadians were employed in the public sector across all levels of government, including Crown corporations, and other publicly funded institutions such as schools, universities, and hospitals.
