NDP select Avi Lewis as leader, what does it mean for Canada? (with Hamish Marshall)
Candice covers the absurd NDP convention in Winnipeg over the weekend, including the ridiculously woke speeches from the floor. Candice & Hamish discuss new leader Avi Lewis.
On today’s episode of the Candice Malcolm Show, Candice discusses the NDP leadership convention in Winnipeg over the weekend and the election of new NDP Leader Avi Lewis.
Unlike former NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh, Avi Lewis is a serious person and a prominent public figure in Canada. He comes from a long line of Canadian socialist politicians – his grandfather David Lewis was one of the architects of the New Democrat Party and his father Stephen Lewis was the longtime NDP leader in Ontario during the 1970s.
Avi Lewis himself is a former CBC host, a professor and a hard-left activist in Canada. He came out swinging with pointed criticisms against Prime Minister Mark Carney and against the war in Iran.
Lewis also called for nationalization and state ownership of many industries in Canada – “food, phone and internet” as well as home-building and construction – to “Trump-proof” the economy.
The modern NDP is very radical and indeed anti-Canadian. As Candice pointed out on X, they didn’t even have a Canadian flag on stage. But they did have a Palestine flag. Wow.
Candice is joined by pollster and political insider Hamish Marshall to discuss Avi Lewis and the NDP.
What would have happened in the 2025 election if the NDP had performed better? What will happen to Prime Minister Carney and his “Elbows Up” coalition with a strong contender on the left? Will this help Pierre Poilievre and the Conservatives? Candice and Hamish discuss the ways this will change the political landscape in Canada.

Finally, Candice and Hamish go through some of the wokest and funniest clips from the convention and comment on the insanity of the modern day left.

Sounds like Communism to me, but I think he comes by it naturally. What concerns me is that there are so many Canadians willing to buy into this anti Trump nonsense.
Good grief. Another Quack. The incredible stupidity of the NDP is mind boggling.
