It is pretty hard for me to deny that rez schools didn't exist when The rez school was in our Fort Frances hockey league. We played against the rez kids from Red Gut bay and Wild Potato rezes where they didnt have access to provincial or private rez schools like in town. The local Indian kids went to the town Catholic schools where the colour blind nuns beat them as indescriminately as the did us white kids. My guess is that the NDP wants to go after those of us who have the gaul to believe playright Hunter Thompson's memories of the good times in rez schools or those of us who have treated thousands of Indians and heard mostly positive memories of having 3 meals a day, clean clothing and a warm bed. Some how we whities survived Catholic schools and did not have the experience of intergenerational trauma that arose as a financial incentive to complain about. We just got over it. Cut off the m ey and the complaints will go away.
