Manitoba MP Leah Gazan stated that the term “barnburner” is a “derogatory term used against indigenous people.”

Gazan made the comment in a recent Facebook post but did not provide further explanation or sources. The term “barnburner” is commonly used to describe something intense or highly exciting. However, there’s no evidence to suggest the term refers to indigenous people in a derogatory way.
