If stigma will help stop kids from using drugs & dying from overdoses, bring it on!! I’m reminded of the campaign against smoking in the 1970’s. It was so effective that out of a graduation class of 20 only 3 were smokers! The effects of that campaign in schools & on media have brought huge advancements in a population that is still largely non- smoking.
There has been an ever increasing campaign on cigarettes *to create stigma* meant to inhibit usage.
The government employs
- Prohibitive access* through strict regulation and (especially) increasing taxation to make the cost a key deterrent.
- Prohibitive usage* by systematically limiting areas where one is permitted to smoke (from pretty much everywhere to pretty much on your own property).
- Encouraged Social stigma through physically isolating/marginalising cigarette users away from public.. AND Relentless negative imaging campaigns depicting disturbing images of worst-case scenarios.
All of these efforts to create stigma have noticeably reduced the prevailence and harms associated with cigarettes.
Yet they pretty much do the exact opposite on all counts with hard drugs - which have much more drastic effects and consequences to quality of life AND life expectancy of users.
Eby and his goons are hand-in-glove with China. Where do hard drugs come from? Mainly China. I'm sure money is changing hands in back rooms. This MLA might be a useful idiot, or she might be getting her palms greased.
I think they should all go on strike until a private system can be expanded ... the gov can give the money to the parents instead ,,, it stop taking it

Anti drug education is great. But I think the government should not be telling "independent" schools what to do.
