NATO spy believed to be Biwei Zhang, worked for several federal agencies
Zhang made several posts on Facebook in July 2025 looking for a room to rent in Mons, Belgium, shortly before the suspect’s internship would have begun.
The Canadian woman accused of spying at NATO’s headquarters in Belgium has been identified as Biwei Zhang, an engineer whose resume suggests that she was previously employed by both the Canadian Space Agency and Statistics Canada.
Zhang, who is of Chinese origin, was arrested on espionage allegations after working as an intern inside NATO’s top military headquarters after being vetted by both the Canadian Security Intelligence Service and the RCMP.
