MPs broke down in tears at a parliamentary hearing Thursday as Canadians described deaths and debilitating injuries they say followed COVID-19 vaccination — including a longtime Conservative staffer whose vaccine injury was approved for federal compensation.

Conservative MP Blaine Calkins told the Allison Inquiry that Canada has failed to properly acknowledge people who suffered serious adverse reactions.

“I don’t think we have properly acknowledged the harm that was done to many people,” Calkins said.

Among them was Scott Gorry, a longtime member of Calkins’ staff who died Jul. 4 at age 48, according to Blacklock’s Reporter.

“Scott worked for me for almost a decade,” Calkins said. “I don’t have any expert knowledge that I can impart here other than just to say he was a great friend.”
