Legacy media parrotted a report attacking a Canada Revenue Agency audit of the Muslim Association of Canada and ignored all of the concerns raised about alleged affiliations with the Muslim Brotherhood, findings of non-compliance, a recommended revocation of charitable status and a $1.3 million penalty.

The report, authored by University of Manitoba professor Michelle Gallant at MAC’s request, concludes that the CRA’s efforts in this case “proved seriously deficient.”

According to the Canadian Press, Gallant cautions against the use of “associational” methods, stating that reliance on alignment between individuals and organizations “risks capturing innocent activity” and may lead to “over-inclusion.”
