Liberal MP and former public safety minister Bill Blair is set to resign from his seat in Parliament after being handed a plum new gig as Canada’s high commissioner to the U.K., replacing fellow veteran Liberal Ralph Goodale.

Blair’s appointment was announced by the Prime Minister’s Office on Monday, alongside Nathalie Drouin, who was appointed Canada’s ambassador to France and Monaco.
