Montreal quietly implementing AI surveillance network akin to Flock cameras
Police have denied the use of facial recognition or biometric capabilities, despite it being part of what’s offered by the software.
A network of high-powered cameras is discreetly being installed across Montreal, equipped with AI technology to track people and vehicles as they move throughout the city.
The Cloudrunner CR-H2 camera is manufactured by Montreal-based company Genetec and is similar to the highly controversial Flock Safety surveillance systems present in the United States.
